Charles is the founder and CEO of IBIS Capital, where he has spent the last 19 years building a flexible, technology-focused investment bank that can both invest in and advise companies and their shareholders.
In 2013, Charles co-founded ImpactX, which is home to the EdTechX, HealthTechX and FoodTechX brands. In 2018, Charles co-led the Nasdaq IPO of EdTechX Holdings, the first special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) focused on the education sector. In December 2020, Charles co-led the IPO of EdTechX Holdings II, the vehicle’s second vintage, becoming the world’s first repeat issuer of a SPAC focused on the education sector.
Prior to founding IBIS, Charles was at Apax Partners, where he spun off the investment banking business together with senior management in 1998. The business was built up and sold in 2001 for $200m.
Charles is also a Governor of the National Institute of Economic and Social Research and sits on the board of a number of companies in the media and education sectors. He holds a joint honours degree in Economics and Philosophy from the London School of Economics and continues with further education, most recently with an executive course in ESG Investing at Columbia Business School.
Benjamin is an Operating Partner at IBIS Capital with over 20 years of operational, investment and advisory experience in the media and education industries.
Benjamin is the co-founder and CEO of ImpactX2050, a platform connecting capital and technology for impact across 3 industries: Education, Health and Food. Powered by IBIS Capital, ImpactX2050 is the home of the EdTechX, HealthTechX and FoodTechX brands. Benjamin is also co-founder and CEO of EdtechX Holdings, a publicly listed investment platform focused on the Education and Future of Work sectors, co-leading two SPAC Nasdaq IPOs in 2018 and 2020. EdTechX Holdings is the world’s first SPAC to apply an Impact Investing methodology to SPACs and pioneered the “SPAC for Good” pledge, a grant of a founders’ shares to not for profit initiatives supporting digitisation in education and digital inclusion in education.
Prior to joining IBIS, Benjamin was the Head of Corporate Development, Strategy and New Ventures for Warner Media (formerly Time Warner) and the Global Digital Lead for Turner International (CNN, Cartoon Network). He has previously held various senior executive positions at Omnicon (NYSE:OMC), Modern Times Group (STO:MTG-B) and Lagardere (EPA:MMB).
Benjamin is involved in a number of advisory and board positions, including Chairman at College Francais Bilingue de Londres. He is also co-founder and director of SkiBro Technologies Ltd, Europe’s leading ski instructor marketplace. Benjamin holds an MBA from Babson College, a Masters from ESCP Europe and an education certificate from Columbia Business School in ESG Investing.
Rory is a Partner at IBIS Capital and has 12 years experience as an advisor, investor and operator to the media, technology, education, healthcare and food industries. He joined IBIS in 2012 to launch and develop IBIS’ coverage into education, training and work globally. Rory is active across investment banking and investment activities.
He is a founding member of ImpactX, which is home to the EdTechX, HealthTechX and FoodTechX brands, and whose purpose is to cultivate communities and highlight the future direction of these sectors that are undergoing significant digital transformation. Through these brands, IBIS has been organising leadership summits and publishing proprietary research since 2013. Rory is also involved in a number of other non-executive or trustee roles in companies and impact-focused organisations.
Rory started his career at the TMT Investment Banking team at Jefferies & Co, where he worked with high-growth international clients across the European Technology, Media, Internet and Telecommunications landscape. Previous working experience includes UBS and Kraft Heinz in Europe and Asia.
Rory is a graduate of the University of Bristol with a BSc in Accounting & Finance and continues with further education, most recently with an executive course in ESG Investing at Columbia Business School.
Jamie is a partner at IBIS Capital and has over 15 years of advisory, operational and investment experience, focusing on technology businesses. His experience spans a number of sector specialisms, including, media, advertising, healthcare and education.
Jamie leads IBIS Capital’s HealthTech and FoodTech coverage and is a co-founder of HealthTechX, an ImpactX brand which comprises a research platform and thought leadership ecosystem focused on digital health.
Prior to his career in investment banking, Jamie was a corporate lawyer at Ashurst (London and Paris offices), Bank of America Merrill Lynch (equity capital markets team) and Wilsons (partner and head of London corporate team).
Jamie holds a degree in Business & Economics from McGill University, History at the University of St Andrews and Law at the Oxford Institute of Legal Practice. Jamie retains his qualification as a solicitor of England and Wales. Jamie continues with further education, most recently with an executive course in ESG Investing at Columbia Business School.
Vincent is a partner at IBIS Capital with 17 years of global finance, corporate strategy, product, sales and marketing experience across the telecommunications, media, education, gaming and enterprise software industries. Vincent has a particular focus on bridging innovations between Asia and the rest of the world.
Previously, Vincent led the global investment team at NetDragon (HKG:0777), where he orchestrated the $138m acquisition of Promethean World Inc. and the acquisition of Jumpstart Games Inc. He also previously held product sales and marketing leadership roles at MetraTech, NetCracker, IBM and PWC.
During his career, Vincent has been directly involved in the execution of transactions worth more than $2 billion in aggregate. He has served as a board member and adviser to several technology start ups and non-profit organisations in Boston. He was also a founding member of a proposed charter school in Massachusetts.
Vincent holds his degrees from Columbia University and University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Bracy is an Associate at IBIS Capital, with 3 years of experience in M&A, private equity and venture capital. Bracy leads IBIS Capital’s HealthTech advisory practice, and is also active on transactions across the Education and Media sectors.
Beyond her core advisory role, she has been involved in the authoring of education research and leads on the publishing of health sector research.
Prior to joining IBIS, Bracy received a PhD from the University of Glasgow in Biochemistry and Cardiovascular Pharmacology, with a thesis which focused on the identification of novel drug targets for heart failure. She also holds an MSc in Translational Research and a BSc in Pharmacology and continues with further education, most recently with an executive course in ESG Investing at Columbia Business School.
Hilary is an analyst at IBIS Capital, with advisory experience in M&A and fundraisings across the EdTech, HealthTech and Media sectors.
Prior to joining IBIS, Hilary was a consultant in the strategic change department at Credit Suisse on behalf of Delta Capita.
Hilary holds an MA (Hons) from the University of Cambridge in Business Management and Medieval History.
Ness is an analyst at IBIS Capital, with advisory experience in M&A and fundraisings across the EdTech, HealthTech and Media sectors.
Previously, Ness held roles in M&A advisory at KPMG and EY. She was also an analyst at Development Partners International and United Overseas Bank.
Ness holds a BA from the London School of Economics and an MPhil from the University of Cambridge.
Svetlana is the Office Manager for IBIS Capital with 11 years of experience working with leadership teams.
Svetlana was a founding member of EdTechX, and ImpactX event. She is also a founder and formulator of sustainable cosmetic brand, Solidamie. Svetlana started her career at Intesa Sanpaolo Bank and later moved on to AKO Capital.
Svetlana holds a degree in Digital Arts from West London University.
Daniel is the Global Events Director at ImpactX and has 15 years of experience in delivering events spanning the media, entertainment, EdTech and HealthTech sectors.
Daniel has lead the ImpactX team as Global Events Director since 2018, ensuring the ongoing success and expansion of the international event series and launching platforms for other brands in the IBIS Capital portfolio.
Daniel holds a Bachelors Degree in Media Production and Communication from the University of Lincoln.
Maureen is a Business Development Manager at ImpactX, with over 15 years of commercial experience in the events industry. Maureen manages new business growth for EdTechX, HealthTechX, London EdTech Week and the entire global event series.
Previously, Maureen held commercial roles in the events sector in several industries including renewable energy, oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, power, chemicals, hospitality and education technology. She has worked with global industry brands for various senior-level conferences, business meeting forums and large-scale events.
Maureen holds a BA in Behavioural Sciences from De La Salle University.
Kate is the Head of Operations, Marketing and Partnerships at ImpactX and has over 12 years of experience in delivering events for large-scale media organisations and high-profile brands in live and virtual environments.
Previously, Kate was Account Director for a leading UK events agency, designing and delivering creative events for clients such as Santander, National Grid, Bain & Company and Veolia.
Kate holds BA in Event Management from Leeds Beckett University.
Carolyn is the Editorial and Community Lead at ImpactX, overseeing the Startup and Scaleup Awards across EdTechX and HealthTechX and leading editorial and community initiatives.
Carolyn is also the founder of MoocLab, an online community forum which supports students in pursuing their studies online.
Carolyn holds a joint honours degree in French and Psychology from Aston University.
